Structure of Amino Acids

An amino acid is a small molecule that acts as the building block of any cell. Carbohydrates provide cells with energy, while amino acids provide cells with the building material they need to grow and maintain their structure. Your body is about 20-percent protein by weight. It is about 60-percent water. Most of the rest of your body is composed of minerals (for example, calcium in your bones). Amino acids are called “amino acids” because they all contain an amino group (NH2) and a carboxyl group (COOH), which is acidic. Below you can see the chemical structure of two of the amino acids.

Amino Acids Structure

You can see that the top part of each is identical to the other. That is true of all amino acids — the little chain at the bottom (the H or the CH3 in these two amino acids) is the only thing varying from one amino acid to the next. In some amino acids, the variable part can be quite large. The human body is constructed of 20 different amino acids (there are perhaps 100 different amino acids available in nature).

Essential and Non-essential Amino Acids

As far as your body is concerned, there are two different types of amino acids: essential and non-essential. Non-essential amino acids are amino acids that your body can create out of other chemicals found in your body. Essential amino acids cannot be created, and therefore the only way to get them is through food.

Isagenix IsaPro An Amazing Amino Acids Food

The protein in IsaPro is made up of essential and non-essential amino acids that are the
“building blocks” for healthy bodies. Protein has many benefits for the body: repairs body
cells, builds and repairs muscles and bones, provides a valuable source of energy, curbs
cravings, and controls many of the important processes in the body related to metabolism.

IsaPro Testimonials

“During my journey as an Ironman Triathlete (I’ve finished six so far) I had to have some surgery to free up some non-working muscles. During my year rehab I religiously used IsaPro to help my sore muscles recover and build. During this time my body fat reduced about 2%, I lost 2 inches in my waste as I kept my overall weight about the same; evidence that I’ve gotten much stronger. My run time has improved by about 30 seconds a mile!”
– Michael L., Nevada

“Whey protein helps the body to recover after workouts by building up the levels of protein in the muscles. While other foods that contain protein might have a sampling of amino acids, whey protein has them all — including branched-chain amino acids that can help your muscles recover after a workout.”
– Dr. Dennis Harper, DO

“More and more studies are revealing how important protein is for satiety, as well as muscle growth and maintenance. It was found that individuals who add leucine-rich protein, like whey protein, to their diet, coupled with exercise, have more lean muscle tissue and lose more body fat. High-quality Isagenix whey protein helps support weight loss by curbing hunger and keeping you satisfied longer. It also helps support muscle maintenance.”
